OK, listen up, morons of deviantART. (No, I ain't referring to you, hopefully. I'm referring to the 'tards.)

If you flip out over something as innocent as constructive criticism, then I think you should really leave deviantART. Art is all about improvement, and no-one in the world is perfect.

Is it because you expect instant ass-kissing in the Critique box and comments section? Well, maybe your fanbase (if you're one of those Deviants who have managed to get a decent following), will constantly praise your work, but others will try to give you concrit. Take their words as a compliment as to how to improve your art.

Is it because you think your art is "perfect" from the first try? Please get a reality check, because it probably sucks. (No offence.) Some artists draw multiple pictures of a drawing before they create a finalised version.

I had to learn how to accept criticism when I posted my fanfics on FanFiction.Net. I admit it, I didn't feel proud of myself when I first got concrit, but I learnt to accept it.

To be honest, I think you have to learn how to take concrit for the internet itself, and life in general. If you can't accept criticism on dA, then I worry about how you would react in the real world...

Also, in b4 accusations of me not even drawing that often, and posting MikuMikuDance screencaps, so I shouldn't be complaining about egotists on dA if I don't even post proper artwork.

I'm more of an art appreciator, anyway.

There is something called "Allodoxaphobia" Which is, thankfully rare, so you should not expect to see people with "Allodoxaphobia" who cant take criticism very well.

Ugh, the brats who use do crappy Kindergarteneqsue MSPaint/DAMuro pics and shitty base edits are the worst when it comes to this, especially the morons who use their autism as an excuse. The popualr artists on DA and Tumblr (especially the SJW artists) are no better, and many of them pull the "ITZ A HOBEE111 ITZ MAI STAYUL11" schtick when you critique them.

I agree with that statement

I once got blocked by a lolcow because I said "I Am Not Interested In Your Art."

- Use Gimp, results should be better.

- She changed one detail in an existing character and the call it his son. How can you be an artist if you're so uncreative?
~The whole journal about what kind of bitch and slut I am~ - and she was supported by other people Facepalm1 and yes, I'm still the bitch and slut who dared to call her uncreative.

I should of listened to this stamp when I was being criticized.

Can't handle criticism?  Don't upload anything onto the internet all together.  On the opposite side I feel some people need to understand what actually makes constructive criticism "Pointing out the flaws and how to fix/avoid them" versus just being an asshole and starting flamewars.
Mintaka-TK Featured By Owner Jun 29, 2014
True - flames that just tell someone they suck aren't going to help anyone improve. :|

Fffff. I would dance on the streets if it meant I could get criticism. I'm in deparate need.

I wouldn't even mind trolls at this point, my account I've had for nearly two years is essentially pointless and dead even though I actively post art. It's so drab and boring on here. xD
Mina-Foxkey-Star Featured By Owner Nov 17, 2013  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
People who can't handle criticism are just nothing but whiny crybabies! Everyone should admit that criticism is helpful advice, not hateful remarks. People who refuse to listen to criticism and opinions are going to get laughed at over their attitudes.

On person actually sent me death threats over something I criticized.  And then she had the nerve to attempt to use the admins as her personal army.

Some people critique your art, but some people don't help you to improve your art, they just tell you that it's a piece of shit. Most of the time, their art isn't any better.

The sad thing is, barely anyone criticizes anyone, which doesn't help the artist improve in any way, shape, or form.

BITCH IT'S SUPPOSE BE LIKE THAT!!!!1! Jk, This is so true.

I wonder how these people would handle critique in person while presenting in front of a you're peers, They would just humiliate themselves if they carry on like they do here.

Ugh I hate that "your not an artist so you have no say" excuse. Thats like saying "you're not a cheff so you don't know what good cooking is"

I personally don't think i'm that good an artist - trust me, my drawing skills are lousy - but i'm good at writing stories though. And that's no ego boost either. I can handle certain types of criticism but then again there is a diferrence between proper criticism and "Dis artwork sux arse go kill yourself you subhuman waste of life". The difference being with proper criticism you point out the good and bad and tell the artist what to improve on, the latter on the other hand is just acting like a d-bag for no reason.
PinkieShyFIM Featured By Owner Jun 9, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
I can take criticism, but not the " Kill yourself!" kind of stuff.
PinkieShyFIM Featured By Owner Jun 9, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
BTW Why do we get into comment wars? We're supposed to be commenting on the artwork, journal, stamp etc.
Fluttershy386 Featured By Owner Apr 18, 2013
EXACTLY! That's what the comment/review section is for, to show your opinion D:<
Pointerofreality Featured By Owner Apr 15, 2013
I can take criticism, but I seek it because in my past account, most of the "criticism" I got was either praise that didn't help me at all or people who would literally tell me my pictures sucked and block me if I asked for more of an explanation. Don't get me wrong, I take good honest advice to heart. But I didn't get much of it without asking.
Now I just don't bother with comments =P
SnowStoat Featured By Owner Apr 3, 2013  Hobbyist Digital Artist
I used to be that kind of person that can't take criticism. But later on I realised how stupid it was, and that if I wouldn't listen to other people advice I might never really improve...
So I apologised to everyone I was angry at because they gave me criticism. Now, I'm glad when people give me advice about drawing. (And even if they are being harsh, at least I don't act so butthurt anymore.)
Though I do prefer criticism to be in friendly words, even if they're saying something negative about my drawings.

TheEmptyChest Featured By Owner Aug 25, 2012
Very true. On the other side of that coin, though, people need to understand the difference between constructive criticism and bashing. I have seen some really condescending and uncalled for "critiques."
Mintaka-TK Featured By Owner Aug 26, 2012

Oh gods, I remember when I got my first critiques on some of my fanfics back in the day. I remember thinking that they were gold and perfect, but looking back... eh not so much. Thankfully there were people that did give me critiques, at first I wasn't sure on them but I knew that they were for the best and I got a good reality check.

I'm so glad that you made this stamp, so many people should see this. If they get their ass patted their whole life, how are they going to handle the world in general?
StrawberryR Featured By Owner Feb 27, 2012  Hobbyist Traditional Artist

Or, get off the internet. Better yet just kill yourself and save yourself the trouble, because everything you do in life will be scrutinized by the masses. Hate to break it to the drooling masses, but getting faced with what youre doing wrong is the quickest way to make it better. Critiques and criticism are present no matter what field you go to, art just happens to be the most well known offender.
