SOLDIERZ R MURDERERZ!!11! by Mintaka-TK SOLDIERZ R MURDERERZ!!11! by Mintaka-TK
This is something that's been bugging me. :|

I get kinda pissy when people label sollies as "murderers" and "fake heroes" because they kill people. While I do sympathise a little regarding the deaths of innocent civilians, I have to disagree in regards to the enemy.

That, and most countries around the world allow their men (and women) to join the army voluntarily. If you still think soldiers are "murderers", then why don't you ask the soldiers themselves, who often volunteer?

If anything, the person you really should be blaming for pointless deaths is the government. :P

The only military villain I have ever wrote was the one I'm working on right now. And even then, he's only a villain because he got dropped off somewhere with a bunch of other people and thought "Hey, these people need a leader. I want to be a leader. Let's kill two birds with one stone!" and then led his poorly-trained army all over the place looting, pillaging, and burning everything in his way.

A lot of my heroes are actually soldiers and in the military. But it's the news that really sees them in a very heroic light.

"If anything, the person you really should be blaming for pointless deaths is the government."

That is true in general; sometimes a corrupt government will lie to their soldiers who the real bad guys are and they end up unwittingly committing crimes against foreign countries. Though there are a few soldiers who would willingly and knowingly do bad things, regardless of whether their government is good or bad.

I totally agree with you. I do feel bad about the civilians who live there because it's not their war. But a soldier's job is not to be a mindless killer, a soldier's job is to defend his country. I hear about kids throwing stones and stuff at soldiers returning from war and that alone makes me almost want to cry. :cries:

On Veteran's Day, at my job, when a veteran guy told me he was a veteran (he gets a discount), I shook his hand because I greatly admire the military. Also, I encourage people to donate to our military fund at work, too. Most people put in a few coins but I put in a dollar.

I think what people fail to realize is that they owe their everyday safety to those in the military.  The military is what protects all of our countries.  They need to stop convincing themselves that all the military does is kill people and cause violenc.

Me neither. I'd also add UK National Service too, because you were required to do work for the government (not necessarily military work.) Thankfully, that's been scrapped for years.

But you volunteer to kill under the misconseption that a government is right and has the power over life and death! In times of full wars there are no volunteers, it's either conscription or become a refugee. No war can be fought if no one turned up to play. And who are the enamy? Poor sods brainwashed into believing their side is right and it's ok to kill. Yes governments are to blame but without people who do not think they will get a bullet in the guts no war would start. And i should know because i am an ex serviceman.

You should emphasize the last sentence to this:
"The person you should be blaming for pointless deaths are bad governments." I live in a country who never used their army to commit mass genocide locally or abroad.

Also, not all soldiers even kill people! Every branch of the US armed services has its own medical staff, which, unless I am terribly mistaken, does not kill people!

I think soldiers deserve more respect. They're not all rednecks who want to kill third world people in the name of God. People should learn to sympathize with what the soldiers go through. I am anti-war and I still think that soldiers deserve respect.

I definitely agree to this, and two of my closest friends are joining a branch of the military {Lane is going into the Marines tomorrow and Michael is going into the Navy this fall]. I even have a book at home titled "We All Gave Some", and it's the autobiography of Mike Hume, a former soldier my mom was seeing until he died from cancer. It's actually available for purchase, so I highly recommend checking it out.

Hm yes tehy serve, unfortunally teh often serve murderers. And too many militarys of the world start to send societys unwantet people under arms in another land like America does it. And if such psychopathes starts outraging, nobody is responsible. This blames the whole land. And England, even if much more respectable, have fought one or two battles too much with the Americans unfortunally.
Soldiers are individuals, armys not. And armys can force individuals under pressure to do things they would in normal circumstances never do - but blame is nothing you canīt deny. A soldier must know that he gets money to fight and kill, to follow orders even they may be wrong and take the blame with the whole army or itīs land if these do something wrong.
You can go if you donīt agree with the things happend, in every army, just of different ways, sometimes hard ways.

Only about one quarter of all army personal actually do any battles - making food, healing the injured, maintaining vehicles... there's a lot more to the job of a soldier than shooting at people.

While I'm not a pacifist, and I do think some killing is necessary, I blame soldiers who don't have the balls to not follow an order that they believe is wrong. Not every order is wrong, but some are, and if you're just going along with it because 'I've got orders,' then you're not the sort of person I want to be around, and certainly won't revere or even thank for their service.
