Pro-Gun Control Stamp by Mintaka-TK Pro-Gun Control Stamp by Mintaka-TK
Requested by AdrenalineRush1996.

No doubt this stamp will attract a lot of butthurt from certain corners of America. The British situation with guns is that we keep a tight leash on their sale and use (though according to Wiki, Northern Ireland has fewer restrictions than the rest of the country.) Handguns were effectively banned after a school massacre in 1996, and the general public can own sporting rifles and shotguns (with a license.) Routine arming of the police is uncommon, and we have some of the lowest gun crime rates in the world. As far as I understand, decommissioned firearms can be sold freely, but of course, selling them means you're trusting the buyer to not turn it back into a working weapon. (I actually have a decommissioned Chinese AK in my room, given to me as a Christmas present.)

I do like firearms, but I think some pro-gun people forget that they are still dangerous weapons. I mean, look at the gun homicide rates for America, and compare it it Britain's. Some people argue that gun control would do nothing to stop the use of illegal firearms, and while illegal weapons are a problem in the UK, as I've already stated, we have some of the lowest gun homicide rates in the entire world. I also don't believe that firearms should be given to every Tom, Dick and Harry, because mental illness and poor judgement of character can lead to mass shootings and other tragedies.

Yes, you might say that it sometimes doesn't stop the worst scenarios. But legislation that restricts firearm use has worked for the UK for the most part. It probably also helps that firearm usage has never been enshrined for civilians in our constitution.

I think guns should be regulated like cars.

Agreed with this plus one of the commenters on the stamp disagree with this, hence you did say that it would attract a lot of butthurt people from several corners of America.

I lean more to the right, but comments like these are the reason I keep my political spectrum clear of any habits following either side.
On a side note, I'd also like to mention that I find early Semitic (mainly Hebrew) lore of both monotheistic and polytheistic beliefs fascinating; Nazis wouldn't hear any of that as acceptable.

I wholly agree.

I've seen more than enough examples of people in American News, who use their automatic assault rifles to intimidate unarmed civilians, or show up to crowded events and randomly start shooting people.  It actually disgusts me when these violations of our nation's safety are dismissed by conservative or libertarian talkshow hosts or anchors, blaming the victims for not going into public armed, and that the person who used the gun was merely 'exercising their constitutional rights'.

I do honestly believe that my nation's Second Amendment to our Constitution was created with a noble goal in mind, but I find it sickening how many people are using it as a shield to legally and socially protect themselves while they incite fear with their firearms. :(

Automatic assault rifles to intimidate unarmed civilians?  Do you even know what a automatic rifle is?

You want to repeal the 2nd amendment?
Reply
:iconadrenalinerush1996:
Well, you didn't answer my question since you asked me a question and to answer that, yes I'm in support of a repeal for the second amendment, hence I'm the person who requested this stamp and who is for gun control. Are you for or against gun control?

We already have gun control laws that are not enforced.  I support the enforcement of current laws in the US not some UK bitch telling us how to run our country.

Well, she did say that this stamp would attract some backlash after all but she's not bitching or moaning on the topic. It is a controversial issue after all in the US.

I support reasonible gun control. I don't support gun control that restricts gun ownership and handling just because someone has a mental illness or because they recieve benifits and have to have a payee. Those things do not inherntly make someone dangerous with a gun.

I am mentally ill and my therapists think I can handle a gun just fine without being a danger to myself or others.

When I said "mental illness", I meant those who do pose or may have the potential to be a threat to others. I'm prone to depression, but I know I won't try to mimic suicide through my decommissioned AK. :P

I wasn't speakinh specifically about what you said, but what gun restriction advocates have asked in the past. Even obama pulled the one where people who have payees shouldn't have a gun. Just because someone is bad with money doesn't make them bad with a gun. Lol.
