Because SJWs Still Can't Tell the Difference by Mintaka-TK Because SJWs Still Can't Tell the Difference by Mintaka-TK
Suggested by MiniDiren-chan, so technically not a request.

As a native Brit and a fan of Japanese, German and Russian culture, I have to contend with SJWs crying about cultural appropriation on an occasional basis. (Though interestingly enough, SJWs don't typically defend "white" cultures like German and Russian. I guess cultural appropriation is only a thing if it affects a culture that has predominantly darker-skinned people?) I know plenty of Americans who enjoy British culture, and I enjoy aspects of the cultures I've mentioned. However, at least the people I know who like British culture, and myself, know and understand how to be sensible about it. That's simply called cultural appreciation, which a lot of SJWs don't understand. SJWs are the kind of people who get angry at people who eat food from another culture and speak another language other than their mother-tongue. :stare:

Then there's the other side to the ugly coin, in which you do get stupid people who don't respect or understand aspects of a culture, and they end up engaging in cultural appropriation. Like people who wear fashion that has a sacred meaning to certain groups, such as Native Americans. Or weeaboos who don't understand Japan outside of its superficial elements, or planks who think all British people do is watch Doctor Who, listen to The Beatles and drink tea. (FYI: I don't do any of this.) However, many cultures are happy to share aspects of them, as long as you ask politely what's right and what's wrong. Cultural exchange is how human civilisation evolved! (You can ask me anything about British culture if you want! ;))

If learning another language was cultural appropriation, no one would would be able to talk to each other.

They're basically saying, culture shouldn't be shared, ever, in any way :grump: Personally I would be offended, if a foreigner didn't join me in getting wasted, going to sauna & swimming and enjoying the bonfire on midsummer's eve

People don't really look into cultural appropriation... it's basically the one group has something that is apart of their culture and history and they face stigma for it, but one the other group does it, then it's " trendy".

Look, some people act very unreasonable about cultural appropriation and act divisive, but on the flipside, I can't dictate how people should feel about something that is apart of their identity or culture.

Appropriation doesn't exist to begin with. No arbitrarily segregated demographic of people have a monopoly over ideas and clothing.

If learning another language is cultural appropriation, then I must be Russophobic. If learning about the history and customs of a culture, and being really interested about it, is racist, don't put me around Asian people.

But seriously, I'm so glad I haven't ran into anyone who has said I'm a racist for such stupid reasons.

I remember when racist used to be an offensive term to call someone. Now its like saying "darn".

Isn't it racist to say that only people of this race can partake in their foods or talk to them in their native tougne?

I guess that I'm racist if I'm white and I use traditional japanese clothes then...
