Anti-Extremism by Mintaka-TK Anti-Extremism by Mintaka-TK
Inspired by all the violence I've seen from Muslim extremists on the news, and the stupidity I've read from Christian extremists. (Some of my friends will prolly know who I'm talking about...)

The extremes for everything and anything piss me off, and the religious extremists are no exception. While I do consider myself atheist, I do respect other theists, and their choices in beliefs.

...And there are these guys. The ones that make religion look corrupt and a joke. The ones that have committed horrendous crimes. The ones that make me headdesk.

While I do believe extremists exist in all religions, it's mostly reports about the Taliban and activity from groups such as the Westoro Baptist Church that I'm sure a lot of people are aware of. Groups like them make the sane followers of these religions look bad, and that really, really sucks because I know people who aren't like that...

Also, atheist extremists exist too... (yes, I know atheism ain't a religion, but it's still related). You know, those guys who complain about anything with religious undertones? They make me facepalm too. :|

In my country many people are religious extremists and I can't understand it. In many cases, this means to hate people just because they are gay or other "reasons" like this. The religious extremism ruin lives. I believe in God, but I know that religion is only a doctrine.

I think I just gave up hope in humanity. Who gives a damn if the kid's mom isn't a Christian? As long as she's taking care of her child in the proper way and is giving them love and respect, then why should it matter what religion they are?

Hmmmmmmm...
''Religion are not fairytales kid''

First of: If religions contradict eachother, then at least most of them have to be fairytales.
If you delve deeper, you see they likely all are.
All religions say about the other religions they are false, but don't worry, yours is true!

''Kid''
Well yes, I AM a kid, that does not invalidate my stance on this subject.
I've seen some adults behaving quite childish, and some kids very mature so this is not important.

Some of them are fake but not all of them. It's kind of like evolution they have things that suggest their existence while they have other things that invalidate their existence. But, no they are not fairytales because a lot of them have  facts intertwined with them especially Christianity. By being a kid does kind of invalidate your stance, because you have not lived long enough and dxperienced enough and most probably brainwashed to fully understand this world.

Of course, I can't say I know 100% certain God doesn't exist, but with the date I'm working with it is the most parsimonous explanation (maybe He did jumpstart the universe, who knows)
We can see the cosmological redshift in all directions, meaning space is expanding around us, interpolate that and you reach the big bang (though I'm becoming more inclined towards the Big Bounce, it sounds more logical).
Though our regular physics stop working at a certain point because of issues with extreme energy density, which kind of destroys general relativity.
Ah well, I've dealt enough with this already.
Christianity, and most specifically Yough Earth Creatonism do not rest on facts, they are built on faith and a book.
I'm kind of tired of debates against them, because every time I did debate all I got was them trying to disprove my arguments without actually contributing evidence for their religion, kind of sad to see often.

Kids are often more open minded than adults.
I would embrace any religion if it was proven.
Really, I'd give up my world view instantly if you'd come up with credible evidence.
''Seeing a belief go unchallenged for a long time gives it the vague appearence of being right''- applies to every age groups, including adults.
Maybe you aren't noticing it, but you very well may be the brainwashed here, as your understanding of reality doesn't exceed: God did it!

There's no evidence that proofs any of your 'scientific' beliefs as well, and yes, there are facts that support religion. Many of the scientific beliefs that explain the origin of life, as well are all religions in the end are just a matter of faith kid.
Well, sometimes he truth is as simple as 'God did it'. Your believing of many lies that were brainwashed into you at school doesn't make you any smarter. If you delve deeper you'll understand that we truly know nothing, and any belief system is fine. But between all beliefs system Christianity is the one that has more facts supporting it, and that is the why I'm sticking with it. Also, the open mindness you say kids have is pure ignorance of the world and life which makes them willing to believe any lie they are told.

You may wanna rethink the first sentence.
There is no such thing as a 'scientific belief'.
Science does not deal with opinions, it really doesn't care about what you belief.
Religion does deal with opinions, because you cannot say God is more true than Ganesh, as both are unprovable and unfalsifiable.

Hah, I wish science was that simple: God did it!
Writing papers about everything would be sooooo easy.
Just write these three words and you're done, here's a nobel prize for you!

Ok this again, there is evidence for evolution and the old universe, in contrast to your religion.
First of, as an aspiring paleontology student, I have studied the fossil record.
It can't be more obvious that evolution is at the cause of it, because every time you delve down a layer deeper, the animals look different.
I can name at least these transitional forms (well, that would be your definition of transitional form, as evolution is a continuous process so in a way, every fossil is a transitional fossil) Mixosaurus, Ornitholestes, Daspletosaurus, Purgatorius, Tiktaalik, Austalopithecus, Panphagia, Cryolophosaurus, the whole group enantiorniths, and if you want I go on, but that would clutter my reply, and it is not really my point to name as many transitional species as I can.

So, we have the fossil record as my first piece of evidence.
Now we move on to the experimental and empirical side:
We can observe evolution, but because major changes require such enormous periods of time, we can only observe small changes.
For example, a species of butterfly.
It lived in a woodland that got turned into a huge industrial area.
Individuals with the darkest colours have a slighly higher chance of living.
These tiny colour changes accumulate over the years and after a few decades that butterfly species was dark brown-ish.
How do you call that? nooooo, not evolution at all , I am just brainwashed :P

There is also a lizard slowly abandoning egg laying in favour of live birth! source: news.nationalgeographic.com/ne…
How do you call that?

Now we move on to the logical part, answer each of these questions.
If you answer each with yes then there's no reason to doubt evolution:

1. does genetic variation exist?

2. Are some variations more beneficial than others?

3. If some are more beneficial, then would they accumulate?

4. If enough changes accumulate, that the animal looks very different and can't mate with the isolated members of it's genus, then it is a new species.

5. would a species with accumulated benefical traits fare better than the ones without leaving only the evolved ones?

6. Is the earth much older than 6000 yrs?
(seriously if you answer this one with no I'm gonna laugh my ass of, and you should delve more into geology

OK, next part: christianity has the most facst supporting it.
Nope.
show me, at least I showed you a sliver of what's there for evolution....

First of, I don't exculde the possibility a deity of some form exists (or existed but not anymore) because we don't know the origins of the universe before the Big Bang/Bounce.

The Big Bang/bounce  (I will refer to it as the Bounce from now on, because it is a more logical explanation) has mathematical and empirical evidence supporting it, the fine guys at PBS space Time have done that for me, so here's a video instead of a long reply:
youtu.be/aPStj2ZuXug

youtu.be/JDmKLXVFJzk  (What's wrong with the Big Bang, also by PBS space Time)

All in all, this debate is not important to science, because it is already settled in favour of evolution and Big bounce.

extremism doesn't just pertain to violence. it also includes forcing your religious beliefs and opinions on others and expecting everyone to live by the laws or what humans perceive as laws of their religion to everyone else and getting belligerent or otherwise unpleasant when someone simply doesn't want to live by certain rules or made up rules by other people.

ex. when christians try to go around banning gay marriage and equality
